Mike Fernandez, Project Director

Mike started his career in electrical contracting with Electrical Installations Limited and continued his development in Building Services Consultancy gaining further experience on design and site management until the mid 1980's. Joined Austin Smith Lord Engineering in 1986 to lead projects in design and implementation before forming his own practice in the early 1990's successfully developing the business in the retail and industrial business sectors.
Joined T-Mobile (UK) Limited in 1995 (formerly One2One and Mercury Personal Telecommunications before that) and managed the core network infrastructure, subsequently building circa 70% of T-Mobile's present day core data centre network sites. Responsible for managing the professional design teams and construction teams on all major projects from acquisition through to handover to network operations. Fully responsible for all budget setting and capital expenditure management.
Moved to the corporate FM department to take over the construction of T-Mobile's new UK HQ in Hatfield comprising c500,000 square feet of office development spread over six separate buildings on a single campus. Oversaw the relocation of c3,200 staff from existing to new office facilities.
In 2005 took responsibility for successfully developing and growing T-Mobile's Retail Estate from 130 to 270 High Street Stores fitting out the entire estate to a common European brand standard. This involved managing the acquisition programme, property agents and legal team. Also responsible for managing the design team producing store layouts and for managing a team of external project managers and shop fitters.
Mike left T-Mobile to join Galileo Connect in 2008 to become Project Director responsible for all aspects of project management, including, client liaison, planning, procurement, programming and overseeing major contracts.
